The Long Walk of Nelson Mandela. Alexandria: PBS Home Video, 1999.
This film biography of Mandela tells the story of his life through interviews with intimates, from his most trusted associates to his jailers on Robben Island, the prison where he was held for 27 years.

Uncommon Ground. New Day Films, 1994.
Follows the journey of five Los Angeles high school students to Grahamstown, South Africa, where they meet and live with five South African students in a black township. They discuss their experiences with family, school, violence, racism and oppression. Includes short video diaries made by each student about their experience.

Beat the Drum. Z Productions, 2007.
A contemporary South African film about the devastation of HIV / AIDS. Journeys in Film, a non-profit educational organization, has created a curriculum guide to go along with the film. Download the curriculum for free from the Journeys in Film website.
